Can parents or dance teachers come and observe classes?

PARENTS / TEACHERS OBSERVING IN CLASS

  • Dance teachers may purchase a physical pass that will allow them access to observe in some of the dance rooms. Room monitors will have a listing of dance teachers who have permission to observe

  • Parents may observe for a short time each day – long enough to see their dancer get settled into class in the morning, just before, or just after lunch, or for a few minutes at the end of the day. However, parents should choose just one of these options each day, and should not plan to stay for an extended period of time

  • Parents should NOT go to the front of the room to take pictures or video. If they wish to take pictures or videos, they should do so from a distance and without drawing any of the dancers’ or faculty attention away from the class

  • If the presence of observers causes any distraction, they will be asked to leave

  • At GIV we have experimented with several observation policies. By far, the one that the dancers and the faculty prefer is to have NO parents observing. Parents should keep this in mind if they choose to observe, and make sure that they do not cause any distractions to the dancers or the faculty

  • If GIV receives any complaints about parents over staying in any of the rooms, or causing distractions, we reserve the right to change the policy at any time
